Hah, finally you made a good move to use SMF. I am sure it will be a good experience, it is really HIGHLY effective and many-many features over other forums I have used.

Me, I have been up Kinabalu once in 1993.
Planned to go up last year, but faced a lot of hurdles relating to making a forward booking with SSL.
They fall short BIG time!

Anyway, all the best!

Okay it had to come. Here is my .02 for tese forums at this starting point.

First of all, a great effort by the owner in providing valuable information regarding climbing Kinabalu and Sabah in general. Wonderful resource of knowledge.

I think for a one man show, the forums are starting up with too many boards (the terminology in SMF). You will have a tough time keeping things in check. I suggest no more than three (3) CATEGORY sections:

1) Main area targeted for official information with little or no participation from members.
2) Public area for :
 - Kopitiam
 - Community Boards _ advertisements by members
 - commercial sales advertisements and review relating to climbing Kinabalu
3) Admin hidden area for admin/mods collaboration

The public area can begin with as few as two boards with many child-boards to follow. This way, moderators can be assigned specific areas to administer. Placing too many top-level boards is going to complicate administration. I cannot imagine that very many people coming in to help out meaningfully.

I had a similar experience when my friend and partner wanted to setup forums for his condominium under construction. He too started off ith too many boards at top level. We were fortunate to have trimmed that down early stages and had few wonderful souls to help out. I remain admin (without being a resident there, having no interests whatsoever). Thank you for your feedback, zenzenx. I really appreciate your comment on this new forum.

As you suggested, I have trimmed down the forum boards to only 3 categories with 3 boards which I follow most major travelers forum around the net (as the guideline) that I found out. We will see how it goes.

Cheers!

Thank you drizad for your valuable information at this website. Thank you also for providing this platform for people who love Mt. Kinabalu to discuss and exchange information.

I'm wenping from Banting in Selangor. So far I only climbed Mt. Kinabalu once in April 2007. Love not just Mt. Kinabalu but its surroundings as well.

Hello, I'm your new member.. ;D

Thank Dr. Izad for the forum especially the precious info either from your website or kinabalu blog.

I've learnt a lot from it and now i myself have started my own journal talking about Sabah. I really appreciate the reward given from above and i was inspired to convey some stories regarding the beauty of Sabah landcapes, the breathtaking sceneries, , uniqueness of its community, remarkable flora and fauna, interesting or historical places and many other general info about Sabah.

I hope by sharing this information, there'll be more grateful people that will appreciate their surroundings. Preserve our land for our new generation  :)

God bless..
God has blessed Sabah with beautiful landscapes, friendly community and fruitful land!
