    The best place to eat

    In Kota Kinabalu City

Sabah, The Land Below The Wind, is famous with its delicious seafood. Your journey to Sabah is not complete if do not have a try of their wide variety of seafood. All of the restaurants that is shown here provides live creatures - fishes, crabs, prawns and lobster  in aquariums - all are alive and you have a choice to choose which one you would like to eat. All of the restaurants are in Kota Kinabalu city, means that you do not have to take any transport to the place. You can just walk to the place, mostly about 10 to 20 minutes away from most of the hotels in the city.
For any of the seafood restaurant below, try out this these very basic meal:
    • Steamed garoupa
    • Sabah Vege
    • Butter prawn
    • Deep fry soft shell crab
    • Chinese tea (for drinks)
    • Coconut pudding for dessert
    • Steamed rice (if necessary)
Believe me. You would not have it like anywhere else.

    Ocean Seafood Village

    Ocean Seafood
Situated in Kota Kinabalu city, have a wide variety of seafood. Very nice wooden architecture, more 'kampung' (village) ambiance. They have VIP rooms also (with air condition). Try to have what they call it 'Sabah Vege' (for Sabah Vegetables). They really serves lip smacking dishes.

    Port View Seafood Village

    Port View Seafood Village
Situated in Kota Kinabalu Waterfront in the heart of Kota Kinabalu city. They provide modern ambiance with the scenery of the Gaya Island and South China sea. Try their mouth watering coconut pudding. All the seafood are fresh and you can even smell the ocean while you eat.

    Grand Port View Seafood Restaurant

    Grand Portview Seafood
Situated slightly further away at the outskirt of Kota Kinabalu city and very close to the city's ferry terminal, this restaurants also provide very nice seafood. You might have to walk about 20 minutes to get there from the heart of the city.

    Rasa Nyonya Restaurant

    Rasa Nyonya Restaurant
If you would like to try 'nyonya' style of food, you can try this restaurant. Very cozy environment, and very close to the Grand Port View Restaurant. They also provide Malay and Western style food. Lots of seafood, and no pork here!

    Restoran Sri Melaka

    Restoran Sri Melaka
If you would like to have a delicious Malay 'kampung' style food, try out this restaurant. It is not in Melaka (like the name), but in the heart of Kota Kinabalu city. No live seafood. Nice environment.

    Krishna Curry House

    Krishna Curry House
If you like to eat the best and hot fish head curry on banana leaf with your bare hand, try this restaurant. Situated at Penampang New Township (Towering Area) it is a 5 km ride with a taxi. Although it is a bit further away, it is one of the best fish head curry (Indian style food) around. Worth every penny of your journey.
    Kumuka Worldwide Asian Adventures
Still missing your fast food restaurant? Do not worry. There are Kentucky Fried Chicken, Pizza Hut and McDonald scattering all around the city center. Kota Kinabalu also have 24 hour shop like 7eleven and 'mamak' restaurant that mostly provide 'roti canai' and 'teh tarik' if you fancy eating out at wee hours.
There are a lot of places to eat. It is just depends on your preference, your sensitivity of your stomach lining to local dishes (so you won't get diarrhea before the climb) and the most important thing is the hygiene of the place where you eat. All of the places above have 'A' rating from the local authorities (Kota Kinabalu City Hall) for eating places cleanliness. Just look for the places where they have 'A' and at least 'B' rating. You are advised not to eat in the place where they have 'C' rating.
